Apple is set to launch the iPhone 16 series on September 9, 2024, during its “It’s Glowtime” event. The presentation will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, and will be streamed live on Apple’s official YouTube channel and website at 10:30 PM IST.
The new iPhone 16 series is anticipated to include the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Alongside these, the Apple Watch Series 10 and updates to iOS, iPad, and Mac may also be announced.
Pricing and Availability:
Although not yet confirmed, the iPhone 16 series is expected to start at $799 for the base model and $899 for the iPhone 16 Plus. In India, this could mean around Rs 79,900 for the iPhone 16 and Rs 89,900 for the iPhone 16 Plus. Pre-orders may open a week after the event, with availability possibly starting in the third week of September.
Expected Features and Specifications:
- Design: The new iPhone 16 models are likely to feature a redesigned camera module with a slimmer profile and a vertically-aligned pill-shaped camera setup. A new Action Button, replacing the mute switch, and a Capture button for photos and videos may be introduced. The devices could be available in seven colors: Black, Green, Pink, Blue, White, Purple, and Yellow.
- Display: The iPhone 16 is expected to have a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Plus might offer a 6.7-inch screen. Both models are likely to maintain a 60Hz refresh rate, although there could be enhancements in display technology.
- Performance and OS: The iPhone 16 series may be powered by the new Apple A18 chipset, providing improved performance and AI capabilities. There might be two versions of the A18 SoC, with the standard A18 in the base models and an advanced A18 Pro in the Pro variants. New AI features are expected to include enhanced object detection, AI summaries, ChatGPT integration, and improved Siri.
- Cameras: Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are anticipated to feature a dual-camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. A 12-megapixel front camera may also be included, along with support for macro photography for the first time in non-Pro models.
- Battery and Other Details: The battery life of the iPhone 16 may see improvements, with a 3,561mAh battery, compared to the iPhone 15’s 3,349mAh. The iPhone 16 Plus might have a 4,006mAh battery, a decrease from the 4,383mAh in the iPhone 15 Plus. Both models could offer 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, Wi-Fi 6E, and a USB Type-C port.
