Apple is preparing to launch its iPhone 16 series at the upcoming “It’s Glowtime” event on September 9. Though the company has been tight-lipped about details, leaks and rumors have shed light on what to expect. The event is set to reveal four new models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Potential India Pricing:
According to Bloomberg, Apple is expected to begin manufacturing the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in India later this year, which could lead to a price reduction of up to 10% for these devices. Additionally, the recent reduction in customs duties on mobile phones by the Indian government might encourage further price cuts for Apple products in the country.
To facilitate this, Apple’s key manufacturing partner, Foxconn, has already started training thousands of workers at its factory in Tamil Nadu to produce these high-end models.
Larger Displays:
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to feature larger screens compared to their predecessors, with the Pro model expected to have a 6.3-inch display (up from 6.1 inches) and the Pro Max sporting a 6.9-inch display (up from 6.7 inches). This suggests that Apple is focusing on users who prefer larger devices for the Pro series.
Thinner Bezels:
Speculation suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro models will use a new technology called Border Reduction Structure (BRS), which could result in slimmer bezels compared to previous Pro models. If accurate, this could make the iPhone 16 Pro series the thinnest-bezel smartphones on the market, surpassing even the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 9 series.
Processor:
The iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to be powered by Apple’s next-generation A18 Pro chip, an upgrade from last year’s A17 Pro. The standard iPhone 16 models will likely feature the A18 chip, with slightly lower clock speeds compared to the Pro version.
New Color Options:
Leaks also suggest that Apple might introduce new colorways for the iPhone 16 Pro series, including a brownish shade possibly called Desert Titanium. Additionally, there could be a return of the Gold color, appealing to users worldwide.
Camera and Battery Enhancements:
The iPhone 16 Pro Max is rumored to include an improved 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera with better resolution than its predecessor, along with the tetraprism telephoto lens from the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Battery capacity may also see a slight boost, with the Pro Max potentially featuring a 4,676mAh battery, an upgrade from last year’s 4,441mAh capacity.
